Contract talks Empty Contract Talks

Post  Jay Hatfield Thu Aug 11, 2011 11:33 am

When NCTIA employees strike ( and remember , it will be informational only for a period of time) it will allow the other members ( CELE employees ) to pick up the work . The divide and conquer plan from the last contract ( where NCTIA members were to contract the BEST contract and syphon the CELE members' employees and their work leaving CELE in a diminishing postion, making NCTIA the Big Dog in the game ) backfired through the "side letter" and the NLRB's unsupportive decision to grant a reduced 'private work' wage to Smith Emery . The NCTIA employers were not proactive in 'serious discussion' at the end of the contract. The offers made thus far have been unacceptable and do not appear serious enough to be considered "in good faith". NCTIA employers are going to leave us no choice but to look for work from CELE employers .

What the fuck is wrong with you people.. NO GODDAMM PRIVATE WORK AGREEMENT..

EXTEND THE FUCKING CONTRACT FOR ONE YEAR, MATCH JIM KAPPA AT HIS OWN GAME!!!

We have been beat down for two years , gave up paid sick, three weeks gauretend vacation, 12 days paid holidays; all for not if WE don't grow some stones!

Contract talks Empty DEMAND A FAIR CONTRACT

Post  Steven McConnell Fri Aug 12, 2011 2:05 pm

I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THE MEMBERS EXPRESSIVE CONCERNS OVER OUR CURRENT CONTRACT NEGOTIATION.......MUCH, IF NOT ALL OF THE MEMBERSHIP ARE OUTWARDLY DISAPPOINTED AND DOWNRIGHT DISGUSTED AND EVEN ANGRY AT THE UNWILLINGNESS OF N.C.T.I.A. TO NEGOTIATE A FAIR CONTRACT FOR FUTURE SERVICE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO POINT OUT THE FACT THAT AS N.C.T.I.A. VIEWS OUR (TESTING AND INSPECTION-UNION MEMBERSHIP) CURRENT AND RECENT WAGE PACKAGE AS EXCEEDING, AND ADMIT RESPONSIBILITY AS A RESULT OF N.C.T.I.A. ESTABLISHMENT AND WILLINGNESS TO OVERCOME; WHAT IS NOT SEEN OR RECOGNIZED IS WHAT WE GAVE UP IN IN ADDITION TO GAIN THIS INCREASE, AND ALSO THE FACT THAT VERY SOON AFTER THIS INCREASE WAS THE DECREASE IN WORKLOAD, FOR MEMBERS OF C.E.L.E. AS WELL AS N.C.T.I.A (DUE TO ECONOMIC CONDITIONS). MANY EMPLOYEES WERE NOT WORKING VERY MUCH (WHICH ALSO MEANS NO ACRUAL OF P.T.O. FUNDS). THOSE WHO WERE FORTUNATE TO BE WORKING ADDITIONALLY RECEIVED A 15% REDUCTION OF THOSE WAGES ON PRIVATE JOBS (NOT BY CONTRACT OR BY CHOICE, BUT BY FORCE AND MANY WITHOUT ANY SORT OF RESPECTFUL NOTIFICATION.) THIS IN MY OPINION SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE MEMBER ACTION!
HAVING SAID THIS, IT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION THAT THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR A FAIR CONTRACT. I DON'T FEEL LIKE WE ARE ASKING FOR TOO MUCH AND I ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO ATTEND THE NEXT MEETING, COMMUNICATE YOUR INPUT AND OPINIONS DIRECTLY TO OUR UNION REPRESENTATIVES, STEWARDS, AND WEBSITE FORUM.

Contract talks Empty INFORMATIONAL MY BUTT

Post  Michael Johnson Fri Aug 12, 2011 4:08 pm

The NCTIA has offered us a best last and final offer which is completely unacceptable. The offer is demeaning and insulting. Throughout negotatations I felt the NCTIA professionals had no interest in any inspectors accomplishments, skill level, training or experience. It was all about getting us to work for less! I do not think we will do a informational anything. They should have considered the conequences before they made their offer. They must think we are stupid, stupid, stupid*.

Contract talks Empty Contract Negotiations

I agree with Steve and Mike . When we meet next Wednesday make sure our Union Business agent explains the full course of our impending strike . Also , it needs to be quite clear when we vote that we are voting 'No" on the proposal and 'yes' to the strike . Years ago we had a similar vote that got confused as to which ballot was for what and the results were not in our favor . I still do not consider the NCTIA's offers to be 'Good Faith". They are an insult !

Contract talks Empty Re: Contract talks

Three choices: 1) Take the deal ( up the back door )
2) Mike S has suggested a impass clause, doesn,t sound all that great... arbitration for another year, oh boy!
3) STRIKE , hopefully CELE will follow suit after our contract ratification bringing our Two different contracts inline.

CHEW ON THAT!

Contract talks Empty What if we strike

Post  VAKOCHER Sun Aug 14, 2011 11:55 am

I hear the bridge has a no strike in there contract what they work and we don't! What about the IOR's on DSA jobs some of them are union? And how about all the cele Inspectors? I FEEL ALL UNION MEMBERS NEED TO UPHOLD WHAT WE VOTE FOR!!!!
How long can SMITH EMERY and SIGNET last if we strike.
AS I for one will not have my pay cut or be paid at a lesser pay rate.
EVERONE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND STOP ALL THIS CRAP!

Contract talks Empty Just not feeling well

Post  Michael Johnson Sun Aug 14, 2011 12:32 pm

Vern, You are correct some jobs have a project labor agreement and some PLA's contain a no strike clause. But if we are not feeling well we cannot come to work. As I recall this was done some years ago and it worked very well. We have to stick together our power is in numbers. I have spoken to many members and most get it. When this is all finished I will find out who worked, and they will come to regret what they did. I have some very good ideas. Disloyality is not acceptable. Thank You for your Input. Mike Johnson

Sounds great EXCEPT THE 1.65 TAKE BACK, once it's gone that's it! Think about it we gave up paid holidays, vacation, and sick, the 1.65 is our sick plan for every hour worked. I will NOT GO BACKWARDS AGAIN! We are close to getting what we deserve, what were worth, money and a unified union membership.
